Evaluation of the Machinability of Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Alloy by AWJM Using a Multipass Strategy

Non-conventional machining processes offer various advantages, including the capability of processing hard-to-cut materials with a reasonable cost and sufficient productivity. However, depending on application, different strategies need to be employed, in order increase flexibility process produce parts better quality. In this study, experimental work was conducted use multipass strategy during slot milling titanium alloy abrasive water jet (AWJM) explored, by comparing effect numbers passes under conditions, such as pressure traverse feed rate. The performance evaluated means kerf characteristics, productivity through material removal rate (MRR) values. results indicated that had considerable impact taper angle, apart from depth penetration; although it leads reduced MRR cutting efficiency, choosing appropriate values parameters, higher moderate feed, combination amount passes, can beneficial for AWJM points view.
